Hinshaw offers another 2018 quarterback

UK's Darin Hinshaw has offered another quarterback from the 2018 class, and Cats Illustrated has the latest and his reaction.

Cats Illustrated caught up with Day shortly after he announced news of the offer from his personal Twitter account. Our own Dustin Cordell was tipped off to the development beforehand, by Divine Child's coaching staff, and when we spoke with Day after the fact he was ecstatic.

Kentucky's offer was the first Day has received.

"Very, very excited about it," Day said after the offer. "I really liked the campus and all that's going on down there."

Day was accompanied by a couple of teammates when he traveled to Lexington for a recent camp. Going into the trip defensive backs coach Steven Clinkscale had shown some interest in Day, but this was the first time Hinshaw had an in-depth opportunity to evaluate the Class of 2018 quarterback.

"He liked my strong arm but also how accurate I was," Day said.

As for his thoughts on Hinshaw, it's good news for Kentucky in the early going of Day's recruitment.

"I like him," Day said of Hinshaw. "We talked a lot. He brings a lot of energy."

While visiting Lexington the '18 prospect was able to tour both the campus and the football facilities.

"They were nice," Day continued. "I love what they're doing with the new facility they're building. That's going to be unreal."

The topic of Kentucky's offense didn't come up, so that's something Hinshaw is likely to talk to Day more about in the weeks and months ahead. Day will also be able to evaluate Kentucky's offense for himself this fall. Given that UK is the first school to offer, it's very likely that the 6-foot-5, 185-pound quarterback will be closely watching the Cats on the field in 2016.

Day isn't done with the summer camp tour. He told Cats Illustrated he will camp at Michigan State and Cincinnati "for sure," and it's possible he could also camp at Vanderbilt, Rutgers and/or Syracuse.
