JUCO defensive lineman visiting UK today

Cats Illustrated can confirm that one of the program's top defensive line targets will be visiting Lexington on Friday.

As reported before, Kentucky's coaching staff highly prizes Highlands C.C. defensive lineman Phil Hoskins.

He's a 6-foot-5, 280-pound line prospect with versatility, size and the potential to play right away.

Hoskins picked up an offer from Kentucky recently, and that was added to an offer list that had already included the likes of Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Central Florida and many others.

Junior college players are able to start taking official visits before high school recruits, but Hoskins' trip to Kentucky on Friday will be an unofficial. He has not yet taken any official visits.

Hoskins confirmed to Cats Illustrated on Thursday evening that he would be visiting Kentucky on Friday. He said he doesn't know what his itinerary will be while he's in Lexington, but he's looking forward to the trip.

The Kansas JUCO standout, and native of Toledo, Ohio, takes on even greater significance for UK's 2017 recruiting efforts following the decommitment of four-star defensive lineman James Hudson.

Previously Hoskins told Cats Illustrated that he would set an official visit to Kentucky if his unofficial visit, now planned for today, goes well.
