Tycen Anderson reacts to Kentucky offer

Earlier in the week Cats Illustrated first reported that Tycen Anderson had emerged as a big-time 2017 target for Kentucky.

Sure enough, Anderson was offered on Wednesday. Here's his reaction.

Anderson is a cornerback that's right around 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, and because of better than expected growth he's a bigger cornerback than most coaches and probably recruiting analysts expected him to be.

Because of no spring football in Ohio recruiting can move a little slower for some players in the Buckeye State. That, coupled with his late rise, have kept Anderson under the radar a bit.

He committed to Toledo at the end of March, but Kentucky's offer on Wednesday is a significant development. It's an SEC opportunity for the Toledo prospect, and that's something that he's going to take into account.

"I was very excited when they offered me," Anderson told Cats Illustrated late Wednesday. "I just know how big of a deal it was and (was) just grateful that I had the opportunity to show them what I could do.

"They just said they liked my size and how I move on the field and then they offered me before I went to start track practice," he added.

The most pressing question is obvious. How solid is Anderson with Toledo, and attached to that are questions about his interest level in Kentucky and how he plans to tackle recruiting the rest of the way.

"I definitely plan on visiting UK soon," Anderson said. "I'm about 70-30 right now leaning towards (Toledo). But this process is long and I know that can change and I'm definitely open to change. I have a lot of interest in Kentucky."

If it were later in the process Anderson might be talking about making a final decision of sorts, to stick or flip. But one added variable is time. With nine months until Signing Day it might not just be a race between Kentucky and Toledo. Many other schools could become involved.
